Beverly Froslie Johnson posted a video to Facebook showing the ostrich she spotted just before noon Tuesday near the intersection of Louise Avenue and West 26th Street.

She wrote the bird, native to Africa, was "something you don't see every day."

Sioux Falls Police Department Public Information Officer Sam Clemens said the ostrich was one of two that escaped from a trailer that was on its way out of state.

Clemens said the owner was able to safely recapture both birds and resume their journey.

No injuries to humans or flightless birds were reported.
