Baseball legend Rod Carew finally becomes American citizen at 78
LOS ANGELES — Rod Carew raised his right hand and recited the Oath of Allegiance to the United States on Friday, and with that, the Hall of Fame first baseman and former Minnesota Twins and Angels star was officially sworn in as a U.S. citizen at age 78, more than six decades after he moved to New York City from his native Panama.
