LSU has started the last two seasons with a highly-touted neutral site game against a ranked opponent. For the past two years, that was Florida State . Now, it’s USC .

On Sept. 1, Brian Kelly will lead the 2024 version of the LSU Tigers to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to take on Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans . LSU is trying to start off their season with a win for the first time since 2019. It’s hard to imagine that LSU has not won a season-opening game since 2019 but it’s the truth.

In 2020, LSU lost 44-34 to Mississippi State in their first game. In 2021, LSU lost 38-27 to UCLA , and LSU has lost back-to-back games to Florida State in 2022 and 2023. The Tigers are due a win in the opener. On3 discussed what LSU needs to do to beat the Trojans and here is what they had to say.

“I think I go into this game thinking let’s just call it old school football, at least in LSU’s mindset,” On3’s Shea Dixon said. “If they can win the line of scrimmage in this game and then minimize turnovers, I think they’ll win.”

It might be that simple for LSU. Win at the line of scrimmage and win the turnover battle and you’ll start the season 1-0.
