Why Paul Finebaum doesn't think Texas can win the SEC

One thing about moving to the SEC is ESPN’s Paul Finebaum will have a lot of opinions about the Longhorns.

Finebaum is a longtime SEC commentator and ESPN’s go-to when seeking opinions about the SEC. When asked this week if Texas could win the conference, Finebaum gave a pessimistic answer.

I don’t. I think they are good enough to contend. Steve Sarkisian told me a couple weeks ago he is thrilled with his depth. They have a great quarterback. But they’ve lost a key player or two in the running back room. That worries me. I think Georgia is too good. Texas could conceivably play in the SEC Championship Game. Even though Georgia has to go to Texas on October 19th, and they could even lose that game. I still think Georgia wins the SEC. — Paul Finebaum

We’ll see if the longtime SEC prognosticator is right about the Longhorns. Texas’ first SEC season kicks off September 28 against Mississippi State.
