Thousands of people flooded Harriet Island this past weekend to attend Minnesota's first Yacht Club Festival. Harriet Island wasn't always called that. It was known as Waken Island initially before the name was changed to Harriet Island after Harriet Bishop.

On July 8, the Minnesota Court of Appeals overturned the city of Saint Paul’s approval of the Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) for the University of Saint Thomas’ arena project because it failed to consider the impacts of a “related project,” the Schoenecker Center, and because the EAW’s description of mitigation measures was too vague.
