2 Eagle County locals are attempting the Lead Challenge this summer
Two Vail endurance athletes kicked off their respective Lead Challenge attempts at Saturday’s Leadville Trail Marathon. Carrie Stafford completed the 26.2-mile trail marathon in 5 hours, 24 minutes and 28 seconds, winning her age group and placing 16th out of 184 women. Keith Kennedy finished the race — which includes over 6,000 feet of elevation gain — in 6:29:35. Jacob Skraba (3:47:12) and Mary Denholm (3:59:47) took the men’s and women’s titles, respectively.
Dillon Yacht Club kicks off Thursday night sailing series
The Dillon Yacht Club’s Marina Cup Beer Can racing series has returned. Taking place every Thursday night from June through September, Dillon Yacht Club members and non-members are invited to compete in the race series designed for sailors of all skill levels. At the end of the race series season, scores will be combined to determine each fleet’s winners of the Beer Can Series. Winners will be honored with hardware.
