    'Whiskey in the Jar', 10th Mountain Whiskey & Spirit Company partners with Metallica's Blackened Whiskey

    The Vail Valley's own 10th Mountain Whiskey & Spirit Co. , is celebrating 10 years of making award winning spirits in 2024, and to mark the anniversary the distillery is throwing an anniversary party in September ... and you're invited.

    For their 10th anniversary, the 10th Mountain Whiskey & Spirit Company is having special whiskey releases including a Bourbon, Rye and Single Malt collaboration with Metallica's Blackened Whiskey and former Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey Master Distiller Rob Dietrich.

    How metal is that?

    10th Mountain Whiskey & Spirt Company founder Ryan Thompson said, "I couldn't be more excited, nor think of a better person to help us celebrate and commemorate 10th Mountain Whiskey & Spirit Company's 10-year anniversary."

    He also said Dietrich is not only a world class distiller, but a veteran of the 10th Mountain Army Division.

    "His passion, leadership and knowledge for both his (Army) Division and his whiskies is something I've always admired," Thompson said. "Rob is someone I look up to with the utmost respect in the industry and I feel proud and fortunate to call him a friend and to have his support and guidance as we embark on our second decade in business."

    "As 10th Mountain Whiskey & Spirit Company approaches its 10th anniversary, the renowned distillery is gearing up for a series of exciting events and special releases to mark this significant milestone," a spokesperson for the distillery said in a news release. "In collaboration with Rob Dietrich, and 10th Mountain's own Master Distiller Shawn Hogan, we are set to unveil a collection of special Bourbon, Rye, and Single Malt whiskies that are sure to delight whiskey enthusiasts."

    Over three days in September, the distillery is hosting a series of events whiskey enthusiasts are welcome at to sample spirits in Vail.

    Day one - The launch of the exclusive releases will kick off the party weekend at the Vail Tasting Room on Thursday, Sept. 5, providing guests with the first opportunity to sample and purchase the limited edition whiskies.

    Day two - The festivities continue with an "Open House" event on Friday, Sept. 6 at the distillery in Gypsum, Colorado, where industry experts and whiskey aficionados will gather to celebrate the collaboration and craftsmanship behind these unique spirits.

    Day three - The culmination of the anniversary celebrations takes place on Saturday, Sept. 7, with a grand celebration promising to be a highlight of the three-day party. The event will feature special guest musicians, food trucks and a host of other exciting surprises to be revealed in coming weeks.

    "In a heartwarming gesture, proceeds from the limited release whiskies will go to support Veterans suffering from PTSD," 10th Mountain said. "This noble cause adds a meaningful dimension to the celebration, highlighting 10th Mountain's commitment to giving back to those who have served our country."

    This milestone anniversary not only celebrates a decade of dedication to philanthropy, but also highlights the spirit of collaboration and innovation that defines 10th Mountain Whiskey & Spirit Company, 10th Mountain also said.

    "With a commitment to quality and a passion for pushing the boundaries of whiskey-making, the distillery continues to set the standard for excellence in the industry."

    Metallica covered the traditional Irish tune "Whiskey in the Jar" on the band's Garage Inc album in 1998.
