Resident fatally shoots home intruder near University of Denver
A startled resident shot and killed a man who was intruding in their apartment early Sunday morning, according to the Denver Police Department. The shooting happened near the 2300 block of east Evans Avenue in south Denver, at the One Observatory Park apartment complex near the University of Denver. An initial call of a shooting came in around 1 a.m., according to a police department spokesperson. Police officials said a "surprised" resident shot the intruder inside their home. The man who intruded on the home was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. Police officials added the resident who shot the man is cooperating during the active investigation.
Nonprofit that helps women achieve their educational goals to host golf fundraiser at Keystone Ranch
The Breckenridge chapter of Philanthropic Educational Organization, an international nonprofit organization that helps women pursue educational goals, is hosting a fundraiser at the Keystone Ranch course on Aug. 5. Entry costs $165 to play 18 holes of golf and participants get the use of a golf cart and the practice facilities, lunch delivered onto the course and prizes. It took some clutch offense from Trey Alexander for the Nuggets to avoid a collapse in their Summer League finale, a 91-82 win over the Pelicans on Saturday in Las Vegas.
