Teen injured in Velva truck crash

VELVA, ND ( KXNET ) — A woman has been severely injured and a man is facing charges after a crash on the morning of Wednesday, July 24.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, at around 8:25 a.m., a Freightliner truck was traveling north on 12th Avenue Northeast of Velva when it failed to yield at the intersection with 44th Street North.

This caused it to strike the side of a second vehicle (a Honda Pilot) traveling west on 44th.

The driver of the Honda — a 19-year-old woman from Karlsruhe — sustained serious injuries in the crash and was flown to Trinity Hospital in Minot for treatment.

The driver of the Freightliner, a 39-year-old man from Fayetteville, Arkansas, was cited for failure to yield at an intersection, and additional charges are currently under investigation.
