Colt McCoy Retires, Joins The Sports Media Realm

Colt McCoy is undergoing a life update. The former Texas Longhorns quarterback is retiring from the NFL and will join the sports media realm. After a 14-year career in the NFL, McCoy will switch to the broadcast booth.

“Thank you football,” McCoy posted to social media along with a video summarizing his career. “Excited for the next chapter.”

“College football has always held a special place in my heart. With the expansion of the Big Ten and new era of college football, it is the perfect time to join NBC Sports,” McCoy said. “I can’t wait to share in the passion, excitement, and competitive spirit every week.”

McCoy, 37, will be part of the NBC Sports team that is set to cover the Big 10. They got those rights after the nonsense Conference realignment. NBC needs someone to broadcast those games and they’re pegging McCoy to take on that task. Given McCoy’s success in college, it’s no surprise to see that’s the sport he will be tasked with primarily covering.

The accolades speak for themselves. McCoy won a NCAA Division I-record 45 games as a four-year starter from 2006 to 2009. Regardless of the NFL accomplishments, you can’t take that away from him.

The former Browns third round pick in 2010 finishes his NFL career with 56 games, 7,975 yards, 34 touchdowns, and 32 interceptions. McCoy still lasted a long time in the NFL as a reliable backup for many teams.

We wish him the best of luck in his new career path. Hopefully, he’s someone knowledgeable to listen to when College Football gets rocking this Fall.
