NORTH PORT — The North Port Chorale is looking for singers for its upcoming season.

Rehearsals begin at the North Port Performing Arts Center, 6400 West Price Blvd., on Monday.

Board of Directors Secretary Denis Greene said people of most skillsets are welcome to join.

“It’s great if you can read music, but we have two months of rehearsals. So even if you can’t, we actually have tapes we send to you,” Greene said.

Those tapes can be used for practice at home.

In-person sessions are once a week, until it gets closer to its December performance.

“Home For The Holidays” is at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 at the Performing Arts Center.

Rehearsals and the North Port Chorale as a whole are quite laid back, Greene said. He said they would like to have about 60 people in the mix.

Chorale Artistic Director Paul Webster-Greene said, though they are seeking younger singers to ensure the continuance of the Chorale for the long-term, high school age up to “golden age” singers are all welcome.

Webster-Greene recently reshaped the group to be more dynamic.

He has added things like props so the performance is more interesting.

It was suggested to arrive early to the open rehearsals, so everyone can get ready.

Greene said it is a great opportunity for people to get out of the house and socialize.

The organization was founded in 1980.
