VB man dies in crash in Currituck County, NC

CURRITUCK COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) — A Virginia Beach man is dead after a crash in Currituck County, N.C.

It happened Monday around 3 p.m. on Route 158 near Shortcut Road. Troopers say a small Penske moving SUV was traveling east on Route 158 when it crossed the center turn lane and swiped a minivan traveling in the opposite direction and then hit a Dominion Energy service truck head-on.

Troopers said the passenger in Penske, Larry Edwin Walters, 87, of Virginia Beach was killed in the crash.

The driver of the Penske was taken to Sentara Norfolk and is listed in critical condition. Everyone else involved in the crash has been treated and released.

Walters and the driver of the SUV were employees of Penske who transport vehicles from one place to another.

According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, charges are pending the completion of the investigation.
