The Wake Forest Police Department will host a Special Olympics fundraiser June 22, where community members will be able to tour and touch a number of police and fire vehicles.

All proceeds from the Touch-A-Truck fundraiser will benefit Special Olympics of North Carolina.

The department says that the price of entry grants families and children of all ages access to police cars, fire trucks, a helicopter, a boat, Humvee, military vehicles, the Oscar Mayer Weiner-mobile, and more.

The cost is $5 per person and $20 per family of any size.

Special Olympics of North Carolina is one of the largest Special Olympics programs in the world, with nearly 40,000 registered athletes who train and compete in year-round programs in 20 different sports.

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness and demonstrate courage through competition.

Throughout the day officers will also be selling 2024 Special Olympics NC Torch Run T-shirts for $20. In addition, WFPD will be selling food, while Two Roosters Ice Cream will be on site selling sweet treats.
