(La Porte, IN) - A La Porte man is facing allegations that he ran a full service bar from his home with offerings that included food and gambling. Scott Meece, 45, is charged in La Porte Circuit Court with level 6 felony maintaining a common nuisance along with two misdemeanor counts of selling alcohol beverages without a permit and unauthorized furnishing of alcoholic beverages.

(La Porte County, IN) - What was thought to be a possible bomb turned out to be a false alarm at a Family Express just outside La Porte. According to the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office, the area around the Family Express was secured at U.S. 35 and Johnson Road Thursday afternoon. Police said an unlabeled styrofoam package was on the ground beneath a U.S. Postal Service mailbox near the storefront. Members of the Porter County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad responded and deemed the package safe after x-raying it.
Knox Woman Arrested after Traffic Stop in Plymouth
A Knox woman was arrested Wednesday, July 24 just after 10 p.m. ET after a traffic stop in the area of N. Oak Drive north of U.S. 30 in Plymouth. The Marshall County Dispatch Center put out a License Plate Recognition hit on a vehicle eastbound on U.S. 30 from the west county line. The hit was through La Porte County for a Level 6 Felony warrant.
Two Injured in Accident Near Hamlet
Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday, July 24 at 4:43 p.m. CT at the intersection of U.S. 35 and County Road 500 N. near Hamlet. When emergency responders arrived at the scene, they found a Toyota Camry driven by 46-year-old Brandy Ford upside down in the ditch with water on the southwest corner of the intersection. A Jeep Compass driven by 57-year-old Roger Goble, of La Porte, was also off to the southwest corner of the intersection, but still on all four wheels. Both vehicles had heavy damage from the accident, according to the report.
