The deadline was Friday, June 21st, and we have reached our maximum capacity. We appreciate everyone's interest and enthusiasm, but we are no longer able to accept applications.
Keeping your dogs safe this 4th of July
With the Fourth of July later this week, there are sure to be many firework shows. Some dogs can sleep through fireworks without a problem, but for the majority of dogs, the pops of the fireworks cause a lot of stress and make them nervous.
Summer concert series returns to Aldenville Commons
CHICOPEE — The Aldenville Summer Concerts kicked off on July 2 and will run through Aug. 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Aldenville Commons on Grattan Street. The concert series is hosted and co-sponsored by the Chicopee Parks and Recreation Department, Chicopee Cultural Council, Massachusetts Cultural Council and the Viola Klaus concert fund.

Second Chance, Teddy Bear Pools Unite to Promote Pet Health
CHICOPEE — Second Chance Animal Services and Teddy Bear Pools and Spas in Chicopee announced a community vaccine clinic offering free distemper and parvo vaccinations for dogs and cats. This event will be held at Teddy Bear Pools at 41 East Street on Friday, July 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In addition to free distemper vaccines, rabies vaccinations will be available for $18, and microchipping services will be offered for $22. Free small pet beds will also be distributed by Second Chance while supplies last.

Author Fumi Tomita Delves into Early Jazz
Fumi Tomita is Associate Professor of Jazz Pedagogy and Performance at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He is the author of. The Jazz Rhythm Section: A Manual for Band Directors. He was active as a bass player in the New York jazz scene for over fifteen years. His recordings include The Elephant Vanishes: Jazz Interpretations of the Short Stories of Haruki Murakami, and on tenor saxophonist David Detweiler’s recordings, Celebrating Bird: The Music of Charlie Parker and There Used To Be Rain.
