WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Warren family is grieving the loss of a young boy who passed away earlier this month after he was hit by a car in Akron.

Kingston Solomon was just 7 years old when he passed away on July 12. His father and grandmother say the little boy would always bring a smile to their faces.

“He would dance all day if you let him,” Kingston’s grandmother Kelly Lumpkin said.

She remembers her grandson as a happy little boy who loved chocolate milk, was full of hugs and loved to move. He had spontaneous outbursts of dance and smiles.

Kingston’s father Izaiah Solomon Sr. said his son loved music and he was ready to enjoy life.

“Just full of energy like you’re gonna be outside with him all day, he’s gonna play,” Solomon Sr. said.

Fox 8 in Cleveland reported Kingston was hit by an SUV as he was crossing the road in Akron.
The accident happened at the intersection of Dahlgren Drive and Rosemary Boulevard on July 12.

“It’s hard because you’re up worrying about your kids and never expect it to be your grandkids, so that’s something I don’t want anyone to go through,” Lumpkin said.

While still grieving Kingston’s loss his family is now trying to cover the unexpected costs of burying a child.

“When you’re not prepared for it and you’re a young parent, it’s a lot,” said Lumpkin.

Solomon Sr. says he’s trying to stay strong for his other children.

“I know I gotta keep myself together because if I just break down, he’s gonna break down too,” he said.

Donations to help with Kingston Solomon’s funeral expenses can be dropped off at the Sterling-McCullough-Williams Funeral Home at 1153 Main Avenue S.W. in Warren.

“Any monetary donations would help, even prayers if that’s all they can give, that we’ll be grateful too,” Lumpkin said.
