The Washington Capitals saw another key player suffer an injury scare after a controversial check, as T.J. Oshie went down the tunnel after taking a high hit from Artemi Panarin.

Oshie was skating with the puck when he was hit by Panarin, who appeared to catch him in the head with his shoulder. The 37-year-old went down in visible pain as a scrum broke out and head athletic trainer Jason Serbus came out to attend to him.

Though the play was under review for a major penalty, the officials deemed that the point of contact would have been the chest based on the hit, so the penalty was taken off the board.

While Panarin didn't get called, Washington would go shorthanded, with Connor McMichael getting called for roughing after retaliating against Panarin.

Oshie returned late in the third period.
