    Gas prices: Third straight day of increases at the pumps

    Gas prices increased for a third straight day on Friday as the average price for a gallon of regular gas slightly increased to $3.456 per gallon, according to AAA . This was an increase from yesterday’s price of $3.455.

    Gas prices are ever-so-slightly cheaper than a week ago, when they cost $3.459 for a gallon of regular. A month ago, gas was more expensive, with regular gas costing $3.598 per gallon, while a year ago, it was $3.581 per gallon.

    Mississippi is still the state with the cheapest gas in the nation with a gallon of regular-grade gas costing $2.933 on Friday. Meanwhile, California remains the state with the most expensive gas prices, coming in at $4.811 for a gallon of regular-grade gasoline. Incidentally, gas prices in Mississippi increased from yesterday while gas prices in California decreased.

    Here are the gas prices for a gallon of regular-grade gas in and around Washington, D.C., and a few other states.

    Washington, D.C.

    The average price for a gallon of regular gas in the nation’s capital on Friday was $3.656. This is a slight decrease from yesterday’s price of $3.658 per gallon. A week ago, gas was slightly more expensive at at $3.663 per gallon. A month ago, gas was $3.719 per gallon.

    Maryland

    In Maryland, a gallon of regular-grade gas costs $3.530 on Friday. This is a decrease from yesterday’s price of $3.541 and from last week’s price of $3.581 per gallon. The state’s average gas price is also less expensive than it was a month ago when it was $3.555 for a gallon.

    Virginia

    The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Virginia is $3.330 on Friday. This is a decrease from yesterday’s average price of $3.335 per gallon. A week ago, regular-grade gas was $3.362 per gallon in Virginia, and a month ago, it was $3.436.

    Delaware

    The average price for a gallon of regular gas in Delaware on Friday is $3.464. This is less expensive than yesterday’s price of $3.474 per gallon. Both prices are, less expensive than a week ago, when it cost $3.494 per gallon. Conversely, it is more expensive for a gallon of regular-grade gas now than it was a month ago, when gas cost $3.449 per gallon.
