    Here are some 4th of July celebrations taking place in the DMV

    WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — Looking for events to celebrate Independence Day? We have you covered.

    Here are some 4th of July events taking place across the DMV.

    WASHINGTON

    National Independence Parade (11:45 a.m. to 2 p.m.)

    Constitution Avenue NW between 7th Street and 17th Street.

    The National Independence parade will feature marching bands, floats, military units, huge balloons, equestrian, and drill teams.

    Sylvan Theater Family Activity Area (1 p.m. to 8 p.m.)

    Southeast grounds of the Washington Monument.

    You’ll be able to embark on a scavenger hunt and learn about spying techniques during the American Revolution.

    It involves approximately a half mile of walking around the Washington Monument grounds.

    You can also complete your Independence Day Junior Ranger booklet that will earn you a special Fourth of July Junior Ranger badge if completed.

    5 places to watch the fireworks this Independence Day


    VIRGINIA

    Independence Day at George Washington’s Mount Vernon (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.)

    3200 Mount Vernon Memorial Highway, Mount Vernon, Virginia 22121

    The event will have daytime fireworks as well as a ceremony where people from across the world become U.S. citizens.

    There will also be concessions from Mount Vernon Inn Food Truck and Half Crown Bakehouse.

    ALL DAY 4th of July 2024 Festival (12 p.m. – 6 p.m.)

    Shipgarten (7581 Colshire Drive Mclean, VA 22102)

    The event will have Uncle Sam host the festival.

    It will also have face painting and arts and crafts. There will also be live music, drinks and an outdoor playground.

    The event is pet-friendly.

    Maryland

    Six Flags America Presents Coca-Cola July 4th Fest with THREE Nights of Fireworks ( July 4,5,& 6)

    Six Flags America & Hurricane Harbor (13710 Central Ave, Bowie, MD 20721)

    Spend the day at Six Flags America with a whole day worth of rides, slides and entertainment.

    There will also be a Coca-Cola “Sounds of Summer” zone where you’ll be able to enjoy a live DJ as well as an interactive photo booth.

    Fireworks will take place at 9:30 p.m. each night.

    Frederick’s 4th of July

    Baker Park (121 N. Bentz Street. Frederick, Maryland)

    The event will have two stages of entertainment as well as family friendly rides, activities, food, and fireworks.

    The City of Rockville’s Independence Day Celebration

    Mattie J. T. Stepanek Park (1800 Piccard Drive, Rockville, Maryland)

    From live music to a fireworks display, the City of Rockville is getting ready to kick off its July 4 celebration. Attendees will have the chance to dive into the tastes of different food vendors, and more. During the event, access to the pickleball, basketball, and tennis courts will be blocked off. Parking lots at the park will be closed from 7 a.m. on July 3 to noon on Friday, July 5.

    The festival will begin at 7 p.m. and the fireworks display will begin around 9:15 p.m.
