Ned's Club in D.C. wants to open in time for inauguration 2025

The creators of Soho House are planning to open their ritzy Ned's Club near the White House in time for inauguration day.

Why it matters: Ned's Club boasts exclusive access to restaurant and event spaces with rare views of Washington, plus curated experiences and entertainment.

State of play: The club — the fourth after London, Doha, and New York City — is being built on the top three floors of the future Milken Center, a six-building complex that will include the former Riggs Bank. The finished space will be in President's Park at 734 15th St. NW.

    • A rooftop terrace and loft restaurant lets you gaze over the White House and the Treasury Building, and the Potomac River beyond.

Behind the scenes: Workers were shuffling in drywall last month during a hard hat tour. Next: Art Deco finishings, handmade crystal chandeliers, and custom mosaics.

    • "We feel very confident that we'll be ready end of this year, and obviously we have a unique opportunity with the inauguration," said Gareth Banner, the group managing director of The Ned.

Zoom in: One of the first rooms greeting members will be a Jacqueline Kennedy-inspired blue library — good for a nightcap or morning coffee.

    • A handful of restaurant and event spaces will fill the floors.
    • The 10th floor will be a tribute to American presidents. A dining room full of stained glass and "rich wooden accents," will try to evoke "the sun-drenched dining settings treasured during the Kennedy years," a news release says.

Between the lines: Plans for a D.C. club were in the works for five years but momentarily delayed by the pandemic, Banner said.

Membership for existing clubs is about $5,000 a year.

    • Applications for the D.C. club began late last month.
