    Construction crews hit valve causing gas leak outside MacArthur High School

    WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — First responders in D.C. said the smell of gas was prominent on Thursday morning outside of MacArthur High School after a gas leak.

    In a post on X , D.C. Fire and EMS said crews were called to the leak around 9:15 a.m.

    On the scene, first responders learned Washington Gas was doing construction in the parking lot, when crews hit a gas valve.

    Fire officials said the school was not impacted.

    As of 9:50 a.m., DC Fire and EMS said the leak was secured.
