WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — Sunday, July 21 is National Ice Cream Day and, with scorching temperatures forecasted to stick around for the time being, here’s where to grab a scoop in D.C., Maryland and Virginia.

In honor of National Ice Cream Day, Kilwins is offering a lucky customer free ice cream – not just for the day, but for an entire year. The sweepstakes doesn’t require a purchase, but is calling on customers to get creative and snap a tasty photo or video, tagging the company. In a post on Instagram , Kilwins wrote out all the rules and regulations, including that the contest ends on July 19, just a few days before National Ice Cream Day.

Living by the motto of “Bringing the Community Together One Treat at a Time,” it’s no surprise that Here’s the Scoop has a few sweet deals in store for National Ice Cream Day. On Sunday, you can buy one soft serve, get another soft serve free from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. You can also get ice cream flights for $7 all day long.

National Ice Cream Day is an all-day sprinkle party at Nicecream. Customers can get free sprinkles with any ice cream order. They’ve also planned to treat their first 20 customers with free ice cream, so be sure to get there early. Nicecream’s Arlington shop is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday.

Here’s the scoop (literally): On Sunday, customers can buy any scoop and get a free kiddie scoop from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at The Scoop in Potomac, Md. You can also buy two prepackaged pints and get one free, as supplies last.

Dolcezza | D.C., Maryland, Virginia

Not only is Dolcezza celebrating National Ice Cream Day, but the DMV gelateria is also celebrating its 20th birthday. In celebration, customers who wish Dolcezza “Happy Birthday” on July 21 will get a free scoop of its iconic Chocotorta gelato. Chocotorta is a dolce de leche gelato with a chocolate-cookie-dulce-de-leche-mousse cake folded into it. They are also offering an anniversary promo where you can buy one pre-packed pint and get another for 50% off.

Ice Cream Jubilee | D.C., Maryland, Virginia

Dolcezza isn’t the only DMV ice cream shop celebrating a birthday – this Sunday, Ice Cream Jubilee is celebrating turning 10.
