    Man dies after being found shot in Southeast DC apartment

    WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) released the name of the person who was found shot inside an apartment in Southeast on Sunday.

    Police identified the victim as 27-year-old Stephon Clemmons, of no fixed address.

    On July 21 shortly before 3 p.m., officers went to the 2600 block of Stanton Road, Southeast to investigate a shooting. There, police found Clemmons inside an apartment suffering from gunshot wounds.

    Police said Clemmons was rushed to the hospital where he died.

    The investigation is ongoing as detectives work to learn the details of what led to the shooting.

    MPD encourages anyone with information to call the police at (202) 727-9099 or text the Department’s tip line at 50411. Police are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
