ASHBURN, Va. (DC News Now)— With the 2024 NFL season around the corner, the Washington Commanders prepare to begin a new era of leadership with training camp beginning Wednesday.

Commanders head coach Dan Quinn and general manager Adam Peters discussed the team’s outlook heading into training camp.

“This camp will be challenging, it will be demanding and it’s also going to be fun as hell,” Quinn said. “This is where we start writing the chapter of what this 2024 Commanders team will be about. Having fun and working really hard. Those two things should be synonymous.”

This past off-season saw a change in leadership and an overhaul of the roster. Peters has expressed his deep admiration for the group they’ve built, a testament to the team’s confidence in their new faces.

“We are thrilled about the 90 guys that we have here,” Peters said. “DQ preaches competition every day so we are always going to look at ways to improve the roster. As it sits now, we feel great about the guys we have.”

Entering his first NFL training camp, the second overall pick quarterback, Jayden Daniels, has lofty expectations from the fans, but Quinn looks forward to the steps involved in developing a young quarterback.

“It is a journey and a process,” Quinn said. “When he is ready, we will know, and when he’s ready, he’ll also know.”

This camp will be Quinn’s second stint as a head coach and Peters’s first as the head man in the front office. They’ve found out they aren’t the only ones excited, and team members are also excited.

“Adam and I are fired up to get rocking, but what is even more cool is seeing the players how excited they are,” Quinn said. “Over the last few days, you somebody in the building their excitement to go. It is not a spot where you may have been dreading training camp. My experience today has been just the opposite, so seeing that energy coming into camp, fires both of us up.”

Day one of training camp for the Washington Commanders is on Wednesday, with practice set to begin at 9 a.m.
