PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Washington will play for a trip to the boys state lacrosse finals next week.

The Panthers beat visiting Lockport, 13-8, to win the sectional championship at Babcook Field on Friday night. Washington, the first central Illinois team to win a lacrosse sectional title, will play Chicago St. Ignatius College Prep, in the Plainfield North super-sectional on Tuesday.

It was a good night for Washington High School. The softball team beat Lincoln, 8-7, to win a 3A regional title at Illinois Wesleyan University.

The rest of the area softball regional and sectional title games were rained out and moved to Saturday.

Notre Dame faces Richwoods for the class 2A soccer sectional title on Saturday. Baseball regional and sectional championship games will be played around the state on Saturday as well.
