Ag Educator Matt Kreifels receives Award of Merit, NAYC’s highest honor
Lincoln, Neb. —Matt Kreifels, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Practice at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and long-time ag educator, was recently honored by the Nebraska Agricultural Youth Council (NAYC) with the Nebraska Agricultural Youth Institute’s (NAYI) Award of Merit during a special luncheon at UNL’s East Campus Union. The Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) oversees NAYC and NAYI.
Broken Bow Falls to Central City in Area 6 Tournament
The Broken Bow American Legion seniors baseball team fell to Central City 8-1 Saturday at the Class B Area 6 tournament. Central City led 1-0 after three innings but then scored six runs in the fourth inning to pull away. Central City had the bases loaded with nobody out to start the inning but it looked like Broken Bow might limit the damage and get out of the jam with the score 2-0 with 2 outs. However, Central City was able to add five runs with two out to extend the lead. The Broken Bow offense was kept in check finishing with 1 run on five hits. Bow’s lone run of the game came in the bottom of the fourth when Brice Chaplin came across the plate to score. Coy Wardyn had two of Broken Bow’s five hits finishing 2 for 3 on the night.

Former UNK women's hoops star enters RMAC Hall of Fame
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A former Nebraska-Kearney athlete is being honored for her standout career. The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference inducted Jennifer Warner Ramsey into the RMAC Hall of Fame earlier this month. Warner Ramsey played basketball for UNK from 1995-97 and won conference player of the year twice. The transfer from Iowa State guided the Lopers to a 54-8 record over two seasons and to a pair of wins in the NCAA Division ll tournament.
