BLINN HOSTS FIRST CYBERSECURITY SUMMER CAMP FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
A weeklong camp at Blinn College encouraged high school students to become the next generation of cybersecurity frontliners. The cybersecurity camp at the Blinn College-Brenham Campus recently drew 22 students who spent five days learning about everything from privacy laws to Raspberry Pi devices. The U.S. Department of Defense sponsored the camp through its Cyber Leadership Development Program.
BLINN ENCOURAGING ELIGIBLE STUDENTS TO APPLY FOR PERKINS GRANT FUNDS
The Blinn College District invites eligible Applied Sciences majors to apply for funds made available through the Carl D. Perkins Federal Grant. The Perkins Grant is a federally funded program that provides community colleges with resources to enhance and develop programs that serve faculty, staff, and students in career and technical education departments. Students enrolled in Blinn’s Applied Business, Art and Visual Communication, Associate Degree Nursing, Biotechnology Laboratory Sciences, Criminal Justice, Dental Hygiene, Early Childhood Education, Emergency Medical Sciences, Fire Science, Health Information Technology, Information Technology, Legal Assistant, Mechatronics, Physical Therapist Assistant, Radiologic Technology, Real Estate, Simulation and Game Programming, Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems Technician, Surgical Technology, Trades and Applied Technology, Veterinary Technology, Vocational Nursing, Web Programming, and Welding Technology Program may be eligible.

BRENHAM ISD EXPECTING TO FINISH CURRENT SCHOOL YEAR WITH LOWER DEFICIT
Brenham ISD trustees on Monday reviewed the district’s current financial condition and received an update on how administrators are planning for the new school year ahead. Chief Financial Officer Darrell St. Clair said the district still has July and August tax collections to receive, along with an outstanding payment of about $3.6 million from the Texas Education Agency that should come in the last week of August.
