CITY OF BRENHAM TO CONDUCT WATER SYSTEM MAINTENANCE IN AUGUST
The City of Brenham’s water system will soon begin its annual temporary conversion of the disinfectant used in the distribution system. From August 1-30, the city will switch from using chloramine to free chlorine. The conversion allows the city to conduct routine maintenance, sustain clean water and limit the potential for harmful bacteria in the water system. The city says there are no indications of contamination, but this maintenance period will be used to prevent the formation from nitrifying bacteria and biofilm.
Gas station permit, changes to water conservation plan approved
The specific-use permit allowing 30K Holdings LLC to bring a second Zippy J’s to Blue Bell Road successfully passed its second reading last week when the Brenham City Council unanimously passed the consent agenda. The city’s updated Brenham Drought Contingency Plan and Revised Water Conservation Plan for 2024 both also were passed in the consent agenda.
