    PHOTOS: Severe weather impacts East TN on Memorial Day

    KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Strong storms swept through East Tennessee and southern Kentucky late Sunday into Monday morning, leaving communities with power outages , fallen trees, downed power lines and some reported landslides .

    Photos shared by area emergency management agencies and utility companies showed evidence of the storms’ heavy downpours and gusty winds. Tornado watches and warnings were issued for several counties.

    Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear issued a State of Emergency on Sunday evening as storms swept across the Bluegrass to ensure communities can get the resources they need. The number of Kentuckians who were killed in Sunday’s storms continues to grow, and according to Beshear, four Kentuckians have died and one is still fighting for their life .
