    How Watertown, Aberdeen Central tennis teams finished in Class AA state finals

    RAPID CITY — Sioux Falls Lincoln rolled to a 10th-straight team championship and Watertown finished sixth in the state Class AA boys tennis tournament that concluded on Friday.

    Lincoln topped the 14-team field with 555.5 points. Watertown took sixth at 195.5 and Aberdeen Central 11th with 49.5.

    Singles champions were Rocky McKenzie of Lincoln, first flight; Harold Mayer of Sioux Falls Washington, second flight; River McKenzie of Sioux Falls Lincoln, third flight; Christopher Tao of Sioux Falls Lincoln, fourth flight; Samuel Hayden of O'Gorman, fifth flight; and Connor Husser of Sioux Falls Lincoln, sixth flight.

    Rocky McKenzie and Drew Gohl (first flight) and River McKenzie-Ronan Hartwig (second flight) won doubles titles for Lincoln. Hayden and August Jackson of O'Gorman won the third flight.

    Matthew Bertsch notched a third-place finish in the sixth flight of singles to lead Watertown. Justin Remmers took fourth at No. 4 and Evan Meester sixth at No. 2. Sneden-Evan Meester (first flight) and Remmers-Skyler Stanton (second flight) each were sixth in doubles.

    Curtis Sneden (No. 1 Singles) — Lost Zachary Briggs, Yankton, 10-3 in fifth-place semifinals.

    Evan Meester (No. 2 Singles) — Def. Max Phares, RC Stevens, 10-3 in fifth-place semifinals; lost to Maverik Ragon, Harrisburg, 10-4. Sixth place.

    Justin Remmers (No. 3 Singles) — Lost to River McKenzie, SF Lincoln, 6-0, 6-0 in semifinals; lost to Jacob Morgans, SF Washington, 10-2. Fourth place.

    Jacob Meester (No. 4 Singles) — Def. Aric Tennant, Aberdeen Central, 10-3 in consolation semifinals; lost to Carter Kemmis, SF Jefferson, 10-6 in consolation championship.

    Skyler Stanton (No. 5 Singles) — Lost to Gavin Stone, Brandon Valley, 10-9 (4) in fifth-place semifinals.

    Matthew Bertsch (No. 6 Singles) — Lost 6-0, 6-1 to August Jackson, O'Gorman, in semifinals; def. Asher Dannenbring, Mitchell, 10-6, Third place.

    J. Meester-Sam Karst (No. 3 Doubles) — Lost to Star-Thompson, Mitchell, 10-8 in fifth-place semifinals.
