WATERTOWN — Senior-to-be Micah Hach was a two-sport standout for Watertown High School during the 2023-24 season and is hoping to do the same at South Dakota State University.

The 6-foot-4, 290-pound football and wrestling standout announced on his X (formerly known on Twitter) account that he had committed to the Jackrabbits.

    In a statement, Hach wrote:

"First, I want to thank my Lord and Savor for blessing me this opportunity. I want to thank everyone that has poured into me and helped me get to where I am now; my parents,my sisters, my football coaches and my wrestling coaches.

"I want to thank those who I've competed against and pushed me to be who I am. To all the teammates I've had throughout the years that helped me to grow. I want to thank all the coaches who have recruited me and given me an experience few get the opportunity to receive. I'm proud and grateful to announce that I'm going to be Jackrabbit!!!"

Hach has been a three-year standout for Watertown's wrestling team, earning All-Eastern South Dakota Conference honors twice.

He went 41-15 as a freshman and placed third at 220 pounds in the 2022 state Class A tournament. As a sophomore, he went 44-5 and took second at 285. This past winter, he compiled a 47-2 record with 40 falls and again finished second at 285 behind Navarro Schunke of Brandon Valley, who become the state's first-ever Class A wrestler to win five state titles.

Schunke, an offensive lineman, has signed to play football at Division I Kansas State. Hach completed his first season last fall with Watertown High School's football team and earned Class 11AA All-State and All-ESD honors as a defensive lineman. Hach, who also played offensive line for the Arrows, was involved in 45 tackles on defense.

Hach is projected to be an offensive lineman for the Jackrabbits.
