    22-year-old shoots apartment building after fight

    Early morning Sunday, two men were involved in an argument in Watertown. Shots were fired.

    At about 6:45 a.m. July 14, Watertown Police officers were dispatched to the 100 block of First Avenue SW for a dispute between two males, according to the Watertown Police Department. A few minutes later, a release said, gunshots were heard in the area.

    When the police arrived, they discovered a 22-year-old male from Watertown had been fighting with another male inside an apartment building. After the fight, the 22-year-old drove home, according to the release, and returned with a semi-automatic pistol, firing multiple rounds toward the apartment building. Although the building was struck multiple times, no one was injured as a result of the shooting.

    The shooter was located a short time later and taken into custody without incident. He was charged withAggravated Assault, Reckless Discharge of a Firearm and Discharge of a Firearm at Structure and iscurrently being held at the Codington County Detention Center with a bond of $10,000.

    There is no threat to the public at this time. The Watertown Police Department was assisted on thescene by the Codington County Sheriff’s Office.
