Livingston Parish Schools are building a new school, gym, cafeteria. See the proposed opening date
LIVINGSTON PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — Livingston Parish Public Schools announced that construction on three major projects is underway. The three construction projects are for the new South Fork Junior High School in Walker, the new cafeteria and classroom wing for Albany Upper and Lower Elementary Schools and the new gym at Live Oak Junior High, according to a news release.

Central hosts second annual Red, White, and Boom celebration; raising donations for troops oversees
CENTRAL, La. (WAFB) - The city of Central held its second annual Red, White, and Boom celebration on July 5. There was food, live music, and of course fireworks. The event was free, but organizers hoped to raise donations for troops overseas. The Blue Star Mothers organization hosted the donation collection and was supported by the city of Central and Blackwater Methodist churches. Chris Kaiser is the Missions Director of Blackwater Methodist Church. He says the event exceeded his expectations.
A pay raise approved for Zachary school crossing guards
Zachary’s crossing guards, who help children get to school safely, will soon receive a raise for the first time in a decade. Starting this school year, the four crossing guards will earn $13 an hour, Police Chief Darryl Lawrence said at a special meeting of the School board June 27.
