    JUNE 1: PARROT HEADS PARTY

    Sons Of Sailors and Land Sharks are invited to a party in “Parrotdise” on Saturday, June 1, starting at 1 p.m. at the American Legion Post 481 on Hwy. 113 and River Road. Cheesburgers, brats and hot dogs will be with the fixings will be for sale, along with music by DJ Hawkeye.

    JUNE 2: BOOK BIKE AT BIG RIG

    Join Waunakee Public Library June 2, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. for the 13th annual Big Rig Gig event. Families will have the opportunity to see, touch, and explore some Big Rigs. This summer, the Library will be biking to the parks to join in on the fun! We’ll bring books for check-out, toys, games, and more. Check out the library’s web site for locations. This first one is at Waunakee Public Library.

    JUNE 3: FOR THE LOVE OF MARS — ZOOM

    A Human History of the Red Planet with Smithsonian Curator Matt Shindell surveys the red planet’s place in the human imagination, beginning with ancient astrologers and skywatchers and ending in our present moment of exploration and virtual engagement.     JUNE 5: FARMERS, MAKERS MARKET

    The Waunakee Farmers and Makers Market will be Wednesday, June 5, from 3-6 p.m. at Reeve Park behind the Historic Train Depot. It will feature produce, along with crafts and other items. The market will continue Wednesdays throughout the summer until mid October.

    JUNE 6 — WAUNAKEE MEMORY CAFEWaunakee’s Dementia Friendly Committee will sponsor its monthly Memory Café on Thursday, May 2, from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Steeplechase Condominium Clubhouse, 5636 Conway Glen (off Woodland Drive). Signs will be posted to direct people to the Clubhouse. The Café’s theme will be “Shhh! It’s a surprise!” The Café provides a social gathering place and programs for those with mild cognitive impairment or early to mid-stage dementia, along with their family members or friends. Memory Cafes are held the first Thursday of each month. Participants do not have to be residents of Waunakee; all are welcome.     JUNE 6: COMMUNITY BAND CONCERT

    The Waunakee Community Band will begin its 39th season with its first concert on June 6 at 7 p.m. at the Gazebo in Village Park. “Heroes and Legends” is this concert’s theme. The Waunakee Music Booster will have an ice cream social available. Bring a chair or a blanket to sit on. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held in the Waunakee High School Performing Arts Center. The next Community Band concert will on Thursday, June 13, only one week later than the first concert, rather than the usual two weeks.
