    June 22, 1939

    Three Waunakee students received UW degrees Monday. They are Leo J. Adler, Joseph M Hogan and Mirian J. O’Connell.

    The Waunakee Concert Band will furnish the music for the Ashton Picnic on Sunday, June 28.

    The Arlington baseball team handed Waunakee its first defeat of the season Sunday by a score of 5-6. Three errors caused the loss.

    Percy Alexander has leased the Albert Statz Service Station and will begin operation on July 1.

    Mr. and Mrs. R.O. Dohm of Dane celebrated their Silver Wedding Anniversary on Sunday.

    Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Miller and Marcella Kalscheur attended the Cubs-Brooklyn doubleheader at Chicago Sunday. Gabby Hartnet hit a home run which won the first game for the Cubs.

    June 23, 1949

    Miss Alice Theis and Gerald Pulvermacher were united in marriage at St. Martin’s Catholic Church on June 15.

    Mr. and Mrs. Casper Laufenberg, Madison, announce the birth of a son at St. Mary’s Hospital on June 17.

    Mrs. R.P. Koltes enjoyed cabbage from her garden on June 16. This is very early for new cabbage.

    Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bauman, Middleton, announce the birth of a son on June 8 at St. Mary’s Hospital.

    The Waunakee baseball team trimmed Dane by a score of 11-1 for victory number 7.

    June 24, 1954

    Miss Mary Karls and Bernard Hellenbrand were united in marriage at Holy Redeemer Church, Madison, on Saturday.

    Mr. and Mrs. John Andrewjeski announce the birth of a daughter at St. Mary’s Hospital on June 17.

    Miss Jeanette L. Heinz is among the 296 Wisconsin high school girls attending the 11th annual Girls’ State.

    MR. and Mrs. Carl Endres are the proud parents of a son born on Friday, June 18, at St. Mary’s Hospital.

    The heavy rains on Sunday morning, Monday morning and Monday afternoon did damage to the grain fields, peas, corn and tobacco.

    Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Karls announce the birth of a daughter at St. Mary’s Hospital on Sunday, June 20.

    June 18, 1964

    Sister M. Henrilda, OSF, the former Catherine Buechner, daughter of Mrs. Catherine Buechner and the late Carl P. Buechner, is observing her Silver Jubilee as a Franciscan nun in the order of the School of Sister of St. Francis, St. Joseph Convent, Milwaukee.

    Mr. and Mrs. Clemens Schroeder, Waunakee, will observe their 60th wedding anniversary on Saturday, June 20.

    Father James Lins assumed his new duties as curate at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Waunakee, on Friday.

    Miss Elaine Agerjord is attending Badger Girls State at the University of Wisconsin Madison campus this week, June 13-20.

    Mr. and Mrs. Herman Lange Jr., Waunakee, are the parents of a son born at St, Mary’s Hospital on Wednesday, June 10.

    June 27, 1974

    Waunakee’s two American Field Service exchange students, Britt Ericsson from Sweden and Pat Neyret from France, will wind up their year-long stay in the United States and are preparing for the return to their homelands.

    Miss Mary Bridget Pulvermacher left Wednesday, June 26, for Germany where she will be an A.F.S. summer school student until September.

    Cindy Fangmeyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Fangmeyer, left Sunday, June 23, for New York and from there she will proceed to France. Cindy will be an American Abroad Summer School student in Bordeaux and Paris.

    June 14, 1984

    The Town of Westport probably won’t be able to replace the fallen Mill Road bridge this summer. The bridge collapsed May 23.

    The Waunakee Tribune received two awards at the Wisconsin Newspaper Association’s 1983 Better Newspaper Contest. Photographer Steve Kruschek received an award for all-around newspaper photography, and Richard C. Mulhern won third place for a best spot news story.

    Troy Meffert and Lynnette Diericks of Waunakee Junior High were honored as outstanding eighth grade boy and girl during a recognition day ceremony program held last week.

    June 2, 1994

    The Waunakee High School gym was filled to capacity as 143 high school seniors received their diplomas during commencement ceremonies. Valedictorian was Joleen Morrison and salutatorian was Lora Marquardt.

    Groundbreaking was held for Geneva Ingredients, a manufacturer of savory flavors, which is building a 13,500-square-foot structure in the Waunakee Industrial Park.

    Jack and Tammy von Rutenberg are the parents of a boy, Jordan Jack, born May 25 at St. Mary’s Hospital.

    Waunakee’s Bryan Vogt was the only Warrior who qualified for the WIAA state frack and field meet to be held in La Crosse this weekend.

    June 3, 2004

    Ronald A. Spahn, a life-long resident of the Town of Vienna and a member of the Waunakee school board, drowned Saturday, May 29, during a family outing in Iron County.

    Several members of St. John’s congregation have formed a local chapter of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, the charitable organization that helps the poor.

    Parents at St. John the Baptist Catholic School are anticipating adding a seventh-grade class in the fall of 2015 followed by an eighth-grade class the following year. For many, it’s a welcome addition to their students’ Catholic education.

    Longtime elementary school teacher Jodi Ryan is this year’s honorary chair for Relay for Life.

    Cheer Wisconsin, a new gymnastics studio, has opened its doors on Moravian Valley Road.
