Mountaineer Brewfest hopes event will fund renovations, offer free housing for veterans
OHIO COUNTY, WV — The Mountaineer Brewfest committee began cleanup on the Helping Heroes building in Wheeling on Saturday. Their efforts are a part of the 10th annual Mountaineer Brewfest, as the nonprofit was chosen as this year's charity. All funds raised at the event will assist in renovating the Helping Heroes building.
Little Hocking VFD revives ice cream social
LITTLE HOCKING — After a five-year hiatus, the Little Hocking Fire Department’s ice cream social made its return Saturday. With a history dating back to the early 1970s, the community found itself at a loss when the event was postponed after they lost a location to host it.

Woman dies after injuries suffered in West Virginia coalmine
CHARLESTON, West Virginia: A West Virginia woman, Ashley Cogar, tragically passed away on July 24, more than a week after suffering injuries in a coal mining accident. The incident occurred at the Wyco Surface Mine, located near the border of Raleigh and Wyoming counties. She was 33 years old and resided in Erbacon, West Virginia.

Women’s Golfer Ella Keffer Takes Home 1st Flight Championship at 101’st West Virginia Women’s Amateur/Two Other Cardinals Compete
Wheeling, W. Va. - Every year, some of the best golfers from across the state of West Virginia compete in the West Virginia Women's Amateur Championship. 2024 marked the 101st playing of the event, with three different flights playing. The Wheeling University Women's Golf team was well represented at the event, with two current golfers and one former golfer competing in the event.
Cam Fallon continuing to grow during the summer
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - Cam Fallon has enjoyed a productive summer on the links. The Parkersburg South junior golfer is coming off a first place finish in the Boys 15-16 Division at the Callaway Junior Tour’s last stop at the Greenbrier Sporting Club. That win was his third of the year. He also placed third in the West Virginia Junior Amateur Championship earlier this month. Cam even qualified for the West Virginia Amateur Golf Championship back in May. He is happy with how well he’s performed and how comfortable he’s been on the courses these last few months.

West Virginia in a different place with the WR room
West Virginia finds itself in a much different position than this time last year in the wide receiver room. Heading into the 2023 winter conditioning, the Mountaineers were losing 85-percent of the total catches, 87-percent of the yards and 89-percent of the scores at the position with a new wide receivers coach in Bilal Marshall hired as well. In total, West Virginia returned just 32 catches for 312 yards and 2 scores from the previous year leaving a lot of room for others to emerge.
