Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Wednesday marked move-in day for Freshmen at Buffalo State University. This year's moving in day went well according to the interim dean of students.

Interim Dean of Students Elizabeth Ching-Bush says things went well.

"We started at about 8am with our new students in several different locations, moving in. We have about half our students already in the buildings as of 10 o'clock," said Ching-Bush with WBEN.

New students are mingling with volunteers from faculty and staff, as well as other students, including student athletes, who are helping to get them acclimated.

Ching-Bush says the university sectioned out central locations so students know where to go.

"It was all sent out to all residential students, where their locations would be based upon their assigned location of their residence hall. They will go in show ID, be able to verify their room, and then they will get their keys or access to their buildings," Ching-Bush explained.

She adds the university made carts available for them in case they needed to load up some items from their cars and wheel them over to their buildings.

While this is new, Ching-Bush says it's all been helpful.

"Instead of being in one centralized location, we really try to optimize our campus community and bring the students closer to their residence hall so they can get in and out rather quickly, especially moving cars along as fast as possible for those who are helping to move them in," Ching-Bush said.

    Classes start Monday.
