    Clarksburg man sentenced for selling fentanyl in Upshur County

    CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — A man who admitted to selling fentanyl in West Virginia has been sentenced to more than 10 years in prison.

    According to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of West Virginia, James Edward Breeden, 30, of Clarksburg, will serve 124 months (10 years and four months) in prison for selling fentanyl in Upshur County, a crime he admitted to back in March .

    Breeden was charged after investigators searched his motel room and found 277 fentanyl stamps, the release said.

    He is already serving a prison sentence that started in 2022 for another drug crime at Huttonsville Correctional Center in Randolph County. He will have three years of supervised release following his prison sentence.

    He was also charged with felony drug crimes in 2022 , 2017 , 2014 and 2013, according to the West Virginia Judiciary archives.
