    Over 8,000 flags planted to honor fallen veterans

    HANOVER TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — On Saturday morning, over 8,000 flags were planted at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hanover Township.

    The flags were placed on the graves of our fallen veterans.

    AMVETS Post 59 put the flags out ahead of Memorial Day weekend.

    AMVETS Post 59 has the largest number of veterans buried at the cemetery in Luzerne County.

    The organization got help from several local high school and bike club volunteers.

    The flag planting is done each May.
