SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – An employee at a Spartanburg County hospital is accused of taking advantage of two patients to get money and merchandise.

The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office said a woman filed a report on July 30 that while her mother was at the Mary Black Campus of Spartanburg Medical Center, an employee convinced her mother to unlock her phone and then transferred money to the employee’s PayPal account.

Investigators said $320 was sent in one transfer and another transfer of $514 was unsuccessful.

The sheriff’s office said they met with the employee’s supervisors and they identified the suspect as a patient care assistant. The employee was placed on administrative leave.

That same day, investigators said another woman filed a report that her mother’s phone was stolen while she was a patient at Mary Black.

The phone was then used to purchase two televisions, a wall mount, and a TV stand worth more than $600 using the victim’s Amazon account, the sheriff’s office said.

The employee, identified as 28-year-old Jasmin Nasstassia Streeter, was fired from the hospital after the second report was filed.

During a search of Streeter’s home, deputies found the items which were ordered from the victim’s Amazon account.

The sheriff’s office said Streeter told deputies that both victims gave her consent to order the items, since they were appreciative of her care for them.

Streeter was arrested and charged with two counts of financial identity fraud, exploitation of a vulnerable adult, obtaining property by false pretense, and financial transaction card fraud.

She was booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center on $23,000 bond.
