CENTRAL ILLINOIS (WCIA) — A heat wave has set into Central Illinois, and schools across the region are changing their schedule to keep the students safe from the hot weather.

WEATHER NOW: The heat is on this week with highs in the 90s and heat indices above 100

Danville Community Consolidated School District 118 announced they are holding an e-learning day Tuesday.

“Due to the forecasted excessive heat on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, we have decided to transition to an E-learning day for the safety and well-being of our students and families,” Officials from the district said in a message sent to families Monday afternoon.

Arthur High School has scheduled several days of early dismissal from Monday to Thursday due to the heat. Bus service will be provided for students who need to get home with it.
