Fraudulent parking violation placed on local vehicle

KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) — A person tried paying a fraudulent parking citation that was placed on their vehicle.

The Kettering Police Department reports an individual attempted to pay a parking ticket at Kettering Municipal Court. According to Kettering Police, the person told officials the parking violation had been located on their vehicle on the morning of Monday, Aug. 26.

It is reported that violations for the city of Kettering do not look like the fake ticket that was found. Some of the inconsistencies include but are not limited to the phone number, address and QR code.

Law enforcement claims the person who distributed the fake ticket reportedly made contact with Kettering Police to alert them that they were the person behind the incident.

“The culprit has revealed themselves to us,” said Kettering Police. “Please note there is no further concern that anyone else has been issued a fake citation like this.”
