Excel Center receives $85,000 grant

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – CenterPoint Energy awarded a grant to an Evansville organization dedicated to helping adults finish their high school education and prepare for the work force.

The Goodwill Excel Center received $85,000 from CenterPoint Energy on Wednesday. The free adult high school offers a second chance for people to earn a high school diploma as well as industry-recognized certifications and dual credits.

Officials say the grant will help cover the cost for students to receive credentials. It is set to open in the fall.
