Olney, Ky. (WEHT) – Trees uprooted and power lines down – the least of some people’s worries in Olney as hundreds are left without their homes and their livelihoods.

On Sunday night, storm sirens sent an ominous warning, loss of power, and a gut feeling that something was very wrong. That gut feeling potentially saved the lives of one family who had a tornado rip the roof off of their home.

“My boyfriend, he got a gut feeling and just said we need to go put clothes on and get everything together and get to the basement,” said Emma Koscho. “I remember the calm before the storm, and then hearing and seeing the doors moving in back and forth… We came upstairs and there was really nothing left.”

Hannah Haerle was in Olney speaking with the survivors, you can watch her special report in the video player above.
