Ohio Valley Chief Deputy retires after 46 years of service
Sheriff Fred J. Abdalla, Jr. and the entire Sheriff’s Office family would like to extend a heartfelt congratulations and sincere thank you to Chief Deputy Susan Bell who retired on July 1, 2024, after forty-six years of service to the citizens of Jefferson County.
Two people in Ohio die from overdoses due to potential bad batch of illicit drugs in the community
The Jefferson County General Health District (JCGHD) said they received reports of the fatal overdoses in downtown Steubenville. Both overdoses occurred in Jefferson Metropolitan Housing Authority units: one each in the South End and North End. Toxicology reports are not available at this time.
Two bodies found in Moon Township's Montour Run Creek Friday
MOON TWP. ― Police report bodies of two men were found floating in the Montour Run Creek on Friday afternoon. According to first responders, the call of a body located in a Moon Township portion of the creek was first received shortly after 4 p.m. June 28. As divers worked to recover the body from around 6 feet of water, they soon found a second body nearby in a portion of the creek that was around 10 feet deep.
