ESCANABA — Ladies Day at the 2024 U.P. State Fair is just around the corner and there is still time to enter the recipe/cooking contest. The Ladies Day tent (activities tent) opens at 9 a.m. on Aug. 16 with the program starting at 10 a.m. There is still time to enter the recipe contest featuring Upper Peninsula cultivated ingredients as the pre-entry deadline is on Aug. 1. Forms can be found in the Daily Press. Forms can be sent to info@upstatefair.org or mail to UP State Fair – Ladies Day, 1001 North Lincoln Road in Escanaba. Some of these changes are blatantly obvious, like aging skin to gray hair, there for all the world to see. But also judge: our culture is fixated on youth, little weight given to the wisdom provided by time.

With one trustee of the five member board being absent, Supervisor Karen Varney took the lead to make several motions. Varney initiated making the motions to: send Trustees Dan Hergenreder and Terrie Flikkie to be signed up for the MTA class in Frankenmuth on Aug.14 The cost is $100 each, plus the cost of books and materials is an additional $76 each for a total of $352. Michigan Resort Plans $19M Expansion During Next Two Years
The project eyed by Island Resort & Casino in Harris, Mich. will feature the development of a new nine-hole golf course, golf shop, and additional convention space. The new course will be routed on some great rolling land adjacent to the front nine of the Sage Run Golf Course site. The resort will add 16,900 sq. ft. to its convention center.
