Letter To The Editor: Youth Build Program One Of The Best Organizations In Area
Just a simple note to acknowledge one of the best, little known, organizations in the River Bend area. The "Youth Build" program at Lewis & Clark Community College which helps our area youth learn about building trades and help give them self worth and strength to become productive members of our community. It teaches them to believe in themselves and that they can be an asset to our community! They actually build/rehab homes and do all sorts of other projects. In the past they even put in the slopping concrete for our "Handicap" entrance to our Post.
Mason Ridge wordsmiths earn highest honors
A team representing Parkway’s Mason Ridge Elementary earned the highest honors in the 2023-2024 WordMasters Challenge – a national vocabulary competition involving nearly 125,000 students annually. Inspiring the Next Generation of Aviators as Students Take Flight at St. Louis Downtown Airport
CAHOKIA HEIGHTS – Eighteen area high school juniors and seniors were introduced to the fascinating world of aviation during Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC)’s inaugural Aviation Summer Sampler Camp held July 11 through July 13. During the three-day camp, they learned about all aspects of aviation through a combination of hands-on experiences, panels with students and professionals, and presentations by special guest speakers. The highlight of the camp came on the final day, when campers and their families gathered at St. Louis Downtown Airport to close out their experience with a flight in the cockpit of a real plane.
