Report: Longtime Cape May Beach Patrol Leader Buzz Mogck, Jr. Passes Away
The Cape May community is mourning the death of longtime beach patrol leader Buzz Mogck, Jr. The Press of Atlantic City reports Mogck passed away over the weekend. He spent more than a half century as part of the Cape May Beach Patrol. Flags are flying in the city at half-mast.
Update: Rip current statement for 4 N.J. counties until Wednesday evening
On Wednesday at 4:51 p.m. the National Weather Service issued an updated rip current statement in effect until 8 p.m. for Monmouth, Cape May, Atlantic and Ocean counties. "Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water," describes the weather service. "Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help."
