Heningburg brothers enjoying great lacrosse year

Jules, a 2014 Seton Hall Prep graduate, currently is playing professionally in the Premier Lacrosse League as a member of the Carolina Chaos. Rashawn planned, supervised and constructed 21 Wood Duck Boxes for the Essex County Environmental Center in Roseland. Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. congratulated him on his achievement and thanked him for completing his Eagle Scout project within the Essex County Park System. Realmuto Alta Pasticceria, a 5,000-square-foot all-day Italian cafe and pastry shop is in soft open mode starting today at 117 Seventh Ave South, the longtime home of the West Village Gourmet Garage supermarket. Owner Francesco Realmuto, who also owns Filaga Pizzeria and L’Arte del Gelato in Manhattan has tapped Giuseppe Zito to lead the bakery — a decorated pastry chef who has been a world champion for his panettone. On the sweet side expect bomboloni, cannoli, and more. There’s a full-service lunch and dinner component by Mauro Campanale, who also relocated to New York for the role, that includes several handmade pastas and other entries, as well as savory pastries like salted cod macarons and fava bean and pecorino tarts. By night, there will eventually be apertivi options as well. The space — decorated to look like a “vibrant indoor Italian piazza” seats around 50, according to a spokesperson. Reservations are up online.

Car Fire in Underground Garage at Union Stop & Shop Sunday Night
UNION, NJ – An automatic fire alerted Union firefighters to the Stop & Shop at 1201 Stuyvesant Avenue on Sunday night. Upon arrival, firefighters found a fully involved vehicle on fire in the underground parking garage, causing heavy smoke. Union Fire Chief Greg Ricciardi said the store above was searched and evacuated. Firefighters stretched a hose to extinguish the fire and the sprinkler system activated, which helped smother the fire, he said. Toms River Regional schools slammed by budget crisis, but hungry students get a break
TOMS RIVER - There is some good news for parents amid the Toms River Regional school budget crisis: the price of school breakfasts and lunches is set to come down. The Board of Education is expected to agree to lowering the daily price of school breakfasts by 50 cents and school lunches by 75 cents, as the district has an adequate balance in the food service fund.
