MONTCLAIR, NJ - Last week, Montclair Police Officers were dispatched to a residence at 1:41AM in Montclair on a report of a female who was having difficulty breathing. Devyani Shroff, a Montclair resident, had called her sons, Neil and Niku Shroff, to inform them of her medical distress. During the call, the brothers heard their mother stop breathing and immediately dialed 911. Upon arrival, the officers Giancarlo Corbosiero, Zachary Davis, and Jillian Sofield responded within minutes and found her unresponsive and not breathing and began CPR. Sparta Residents Asked to Complete Survey for Updated Open Space and Recreation Plan
SPARTA, NJ – The Sparta Environmental Commission, a statutory board, is working with the Land Conservancy of New Jersey to update Open Space and Recreation Plan for the community. The are asking Sparta residents to complete a survey to help them “identify goals and recommendations for the plan.” The survey takes about five minutes to complete. HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ - Books and storytime readings weren't the only things grabbing children's attention at the library this past Thursday. The Hasbrouck Heights Public Library and Youth Services Librarian, Maureen Herman, welcomed ZoophoriaNJ, an organization focused on educating children about wildlife. ZoophoriaNJ offered a special wildlife program that combined art and animals. The program consisted of meeting and learning about four different animals, hearing about conservation efforts, and finally, making a “Bucket List Journal” to imagine all the places and animals you want to see in the future. MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) — An off-duty FDNY EMT was accused of assault in New York City on Sunday, according to officials. Matthew Vitale, 29, was in Manhattan when he was arrested on allegations of assault around 12 a.m., according to police. The NYPD declined to provide further information.
Rocks Rock: Ridgewood Parks & Recreation Offering "Rock On" Geology Summer Camp for Kids
RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Is your child interested in rock? Sorry, not rock — rocks? If so, Ridgewood Parks & Recreation might have the summer camp for you. At the week-long "Rock On" camp, children ages 6 to 10 can learn about plate tectonics, volcanology, earthquakes, types of rock, glaciation, identifying local rocks, mining and mineral exploration, gems and minerals. The camp will run from Aug. 5 to Aug. 9 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at The Stable on 259 N. Maple Ave. Each child will receive a basic illustrated reference book geared to their ages for further study after the Camp ends. It will cost $275 for Ridgewood residents and $290 for non-residents.
